In the meantime there's a nice utility to download in the Stuff section - not for music, but for making USB sticks bootable into DOS. There's a dozen different methods, and I've spent too many days trying mosr of them. Some only work in Windows 7, or on certain kinds of stick - but this should work generally.
Oh yes, and you can now send me email from this site. Click on the "email" button at the top.

However far I get, whatever I do, will be in the songs section, updated every few days.
Oh, I've found a way to cut down on the hours of wondering where I should start with each track - with the help of an automated dice decision making system written in QBasic. Took a second to produce the decisions for 14 songs, plus half an hour remembering how to program in QBasic. There's probably a metaphor in there somewhere.
The 'template' for song number 1 looks like this:
Song number: 1
Title:
Tempo: 95 BPM
Drumkit: Thor kit
Starting point: Lyrics
Feature: Vocoder or processed vocals
Extra instrument: Orchestral Strings
Yes, I don't actually have a title yet. That may be provided by a second QBasic program instructing me on strategies for finding inspiration.
Right. It's actualy 17 hours to go - so just enough time to subtly redesign this site, again.

It's a collection of samples for putting generic DJ scratches into your music. It's not intended to - and couldn't - replace a skilled human scratcher, but if you need scratches as an occasional effect, this should do nicely.
The download is a self-extracting KGB archive - that's why it's an .exe - expanding to 14.6MB, with 9 folders of 45 samples each.

The plan is to record a lot of new songs, rerecord a lot of my old songs but better this time, and blog about the process. While recording a lot of my old songs I never got around to recording before, and with any luck collaborating with people a lot more talented than myself.
There will also be links to useful stuff (not working yet), useful stuff of my own to download (working on that), and frequent updates.
And so to launch the site a brand new song. Actually, three brand new interrelated songs, mixed together. The collective title is "Crush", it's a Songfight entry, and you can download it by clicking here, or stream by clicking the play button below.
Welcome, and I hope you enjoy.

Update: I moved the blog to a blogger space, because the provided blogging tools were, er, rubbish.
Songfight have a new fight up, enticingly titled "Crush".
